The Blood Transfusion Centre (BTC) is the only center that collects blood for transfusion for the whole country and supplies blood for patients on Mahe and Praslin. The blood bank for storing processed blood is also located at the BTC.
The BTC’s objective is to collect blood only from donors who are at low risk from any infection that can be transmitted through transfusion and who are unlikely to jeopardize their own health by giving blood. The assessment of donor suitability is therefore undertaken in accordance with WHO guidelines to protect both the safety of the donor and the health of the recipients while ensuring that suitable donors are not deferred unnecessarily.
Blood donation is a community responsibility and while you’re reading this, a patient may need blood. When you give blood, it gives someone another smile, another hug, another chance. It is the gift of life. By giving blood you will help to save 3 lives!!
LOCATION AND OPENING HOURS OF THE BTC:
The BTC is located at Seychelles hospital, behind the Red Roof Building, near Accident and Emergency Department. The telephone number is 4388341.
The opening hours is Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 4.00pm, however blood donation can be organized upon request for groups of people during the weekends.
There are three easy ways to donate blood:

- Organize a mobile blood drive by calling the center
- Walk in to the center.
