Treatment Unit
The Treatment Unit is responsible for delivering treatment services to the Division’s clients. It comprises of three (3) treatment facilities: English River Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Clinic, Praslin Centre and La Digue MAT Clinic.
The Unit’s roles are to:
- Expand access to opioid maintenance treatment, through the introduction of outpatient buprenorphine as an alternative to methadone.
- Encourage clients who have been on Low Threshold Methadone Maintenance Programme for over 2 years to enter into treatment programme.
- Ensure all clients accessing DSAPTR services are screened and treated for HIV and Hepatitis C.
- Develop and implement actions relating to overdose prevention and response.
- Collaborate with maternal and childcare to improve care of women who use drugs and alcohol, particularly those requiring preconception, antenatal and postnatal care.
- Reduce frequency of unplanned pregnancy amongst women receiving OST.
- Increase the number of AUDIT C and DUDIT screening completed.
- Improve information and intelligence about drug related deaths to better service provision.
- Ensure that treatment services are effective, of high quality and easily accessible.
- Maintain the maximum number of dependent drinkers successfully going through detoxification and/or rehabilitation.
- Ensure that staff under supervision are well trained and equipped so that they can effectively assist clients.
