Organizational Structure
The Division for Substance Abuse Prevention, Treatment and Rehabilitation (DSAPTR) is a branch of the Ministry of Health to treat, rehabilitate and prevent substance abuse in Seychelles which includes the misuse of both alcohol and illicit drugs.
The Division has 7 Units under which it operates; Harm Reduction and Treatment being the administration of counter drugs to fight the addictions along with supportive services Psychosocial and social re-integration approaches for societal reintegration.
The Division has full-time staffing as well as part-timers. It has a fully functional system with Administration support and Monitoring and Evaluation for check and balances.
DSAPTR operates under the Misuse of Drugs Act (MODA) 2015. MODA has brought about a major policy shift in the way the law deals with people who use drugs. It provides for effective measures against abuse and diversion of controlled drugs and precursors. The Act promotes the treatment, education, rehabilitation, recovery and social reintegration of drug users and drug dependent persons.
