Opening the event, the Minister for Health Mr Jean-Paul Adam emphasised on the need to focus the health of a nation around the health of the family.

“Our theme ‘My Health, My responsibility’ is strengthened when it is valued within a family setting” he said.

The official opening was followed by a visit of the hospital for the invited guests. Invitees had the chance to converse with members of staff and several patients.

For the moment, the hospital is hosting the female medical ward which has been moved from the Seychelles Hospital.  It has a capacity of 30 beds. In addition it has 2 operating theatres, seven consultation rooms, several inpatient and isolation rooms, and a backup Intensive Care Unit.

The Ministry of Health will gradually offer more services at the hospital, helping to decongest the main Hospital at Mont Fleuri.
