PHEOC discusses national response to COVID-19 with President Ramkalawan

The Public Health Emergency Operations Centre (PHEOC), joined by the Minister for Health Mrs Peggy Vidot, briefed the President, Mr Wavel Ramkalawan and the Vice-President, Mr Ahmed Afif on the National Response Plan for COVID-19 in a meeting held at the Ministry of Health today Thursday 5th November 2020.

President Ramkalawan was taken through a presentation on the various pillars of the national response and introduced to the leads of these teams. He was also briefed on the preventive measures implemented nationwide.

Expressing his thanks to all staff of the Ministry, the President reinforced his support towards strategies to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 and invited further discussions with the team on ways to strengthen the response.

Speaking after the meeting, Dr Meggy Louange, Director for Public Health and Manager of the PHEOC, thanked the President and the Vice President for their visit and their commitment. “We are happy with the visit today and thankful that the president has expressed his support towards the prevention of COVID-19,” she said.

“This continued support is essential to ensure we have the right resources to continue working to keep Seychelles protected and ahead of the virus,” she concluded.
