Public Health Commissioner discusses new positive results in press conference

In a press conference held at the Department of Health, today Wednesday 8th July 2020, the Public Health Commissioner, Dr Jude Gedeon announced that 6 Seychellois contacts of seafarers that tested positive for COVID-19 in June have also tested positive for the virus.

The 6 persons are admitted at the isolation centre in Perseverance and show no signs of illness. Contact tracing for the new cases have already started and close high-risk contacts are under quarantine for surveillance.

Dr Gedeon, reminded members of the public to continue practicing preventive measures to ensure that they reduce risk of infection from the virus. He also advocated for the public to continue wearing masks on buses, a mandatory measure that came into force this week, as well as other places were social distancing is not possible.
