Press Update for COVID-19 (Friday 20th March 2020)

As of the last update sent on Thursday 19th March 2020:

  • There are 7 positive cases of COVID-19 receiving treatment at the Isolation Centre at the Family Hospital.
  • All patients are doing well except one patient whose condition has worsened
  • There are 3 suspected cases being tested. 2 are on Praslin in isolation and 1 on Mahe in isolation.
  • There are 25 persons in quarantine. There are 22 in Perseverance Quarantine Facility and 3 in Roche Caiman Quarantine Facility
  • Isolation Centre has been relocated to Family Hospital
  • Contact tracing has identified 200 contacts for the new cases and they are under follow up
  • Some Seychellois residents returning from overseas are to be quarantined at home as per public health guidelines, with appropriate follow up from surveillance team and the support of law enforcement.

NOTICE

All persons placed under home quarantine who develop symptoms are advised to visit the special stations at Glacis Health Centre, Baie Lazare Health Centre and Mont Fleuri Health Centre. The home quarantine period should be completed for 14 days, from arrival in Seychelles or last contact with a positive case of COVID-19. A certificate of quarantine will be presented at the end of the quarantine period.

Anyone with symptoms related to COVID-19 are asked to report to special stations at Glacis Health Centre, Baie Lazare Health Centre and Mont Fleuri Health Centre between 8am-12pm and 1pm-2pm. People who use these health centres for regular consultations, should go to their regional centres.
