Doctors encouraged to aim for leadership

A group of 13 Seychellois doctors were extended a grand welcome to the Seychelles health service on Tuesday 8th October 2019.

They met with the Minister for Health, Jean Paul Adam and management members of the Health Care Agency in a gathering at the Red Roof Building.

The doctors were congratulated for their hard work and excellent results. They were also encouraged to consider expanding their expertise through specialization as early as possible.

“We aim to have a new generation of leadership with you,” Minister Adam said during the gathering. He encouraged the doctors to consider a number of areas for specialization especially those that not currently occupied by Seychellois.

“There are several opportunities for Seychellois doctors to consider, especially within the community. A lot of the diseases that we face now, need to be addressed in the districts and we have a number of initiatives that are coming up now which we need strong Seychellois medical leaders to take the lead on”.

Already, many of those present expressed their interest in going forward to specialise. Their areas of interest include, Haematology, Cardiology, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, amongst others.
