Seychelles and Czech Republic agree to expand health collaboration

Health Minister Jean Paul ADAM signed a health cooperation agreement with his Czech Republic counterpart, Adam VOJTECH, Minister of Health of the Czech Republic on Sunday 19th May in Geneva, Switzerland.

The agreement foresees cooperation between the two ministries in the areas of patient care, health promotion and disease prevention, health systems development and research. In addition, the agreement foresees training and exchange of health personnel.

The ministers also explored at length how the two countries can share experience in the treatment of persons with severe addiction to drugs like heroine and in the implementation of the sugar tax.

Six Seychellois are currently studying medicine at the Charles University of Prague, Czech Republic and two Czech nationals are already working at Seychelles Hospital.
